How does she do it?

With few exceptions, my wife somehow snags a ball from every big league baseball game she attends. I don't know how she does it.

I do know she always plans to arrive early, like 2 hours prior, in time for batting practice. That's when she has her most success.

How many 53 year old women do you know that brings her mitt to the game? That's another secret.

We recently attended a Dodgers-Diamondbacks game. During Dodger's BP, we started off in left field. Too many people out there doing the same thing. So she relocates, finds herself a more open spot near the pool in right-center field.

There, positioned along the fence, she catches -- cleanly in her mitt with no fumbling around, no chasing balls on the ground or around seats -- not one but two 400+ foot line drive home runs driven powerfully off the bats of major league hitters. No problem whatsoever.

After she catches the first ball on the fly, the kids around her sigh at her luck and at their lost chance for a ball. One little boy says it's been his lifelong dream to get a major league baseball. So she says, "OK, I'll catch the next one for you."

Amazingly, she does just that! Another clean catch on a big home run ball. Gives the second ball to the kid, who jumps in the air with delight and runs off to show his parents.
